Three Numbers

A few years ago I noticed an increase in the number of business-related talks following a “three number formula.” Maybe it was just the time and place I was in, perhaps a couple of executives had been to the same workshop. Anyway, talks would begin with three quantities or numbers on a PowerPoint slide. The audience would be asked to guess something about them and the speaker would then begin to reveal the meaning of the numbers and the relationships between them.

I came across the three numbers in the title of this post in a book this morning. If you had asked me before then what they meant, I would have looked at you cluelessly.

If I am as interested in the future of energy and in Battery Energy Storage Systems as I think I am, then why were these numbers not completely familiar to me?
